Introduction

This guide provides our recommended configuration for the Rogers Ignite Gateway (XB6, XB7, and XB8) to ensure optimal VoIP performance.

⚠️ XB7 / XB8 Configuration

Critical: The XB7 and XB8 do not have a user-accessible option to disable SIP ALG. It is enabled by default with no official way to turn it off.

If you have an XB7 or XB8, you have two options:

Option 1: Alternative SIP Settings (Workaround)

Some users have success by configuring their VoIP device with:

Setting

Recommended Value

Local SIP Port

Use a random port between 30000-60000

SIP Server

Try alternate ports like 6060

Option 2: Bridge Mode + Your Own Router (Recommended)

This turns the Rogers gateway into just a modem, letting you use your own router with full VoIP control. Note: This may affect Ignite TV service.
