On‑Demand Call Recording – Using Feature Codes During Active Calls

Prev Next

Overview

Users can control call recording during an active conversation using either:

  • Programmable phone keys, or

  • Feature access codes (DTMF tones)

This guide covers how to start, stop, pause, and resume recording while on a call.

How Recordings Are Saved

Once recording is activated using any of the above codes, the recording file is automatically saved and made available in the user’s Call History via your online portal.

Important Behavior Notes

Starting a Recording (*94)

When a user manually starts a recording using *94, the recording begins at that moment only.

Example:

  • A user is on a call for 2 minutes.

  • The user dials *94.

  • The first 2 minutes of the conversation are not recorded.

  • Recording starts exactly when *94 is activated.

This behavior applies even if the extension is configured to record calls by default.

Pausing a Recording (*75)

When a user pauses a recording using *75:

  • The recording file continues to run for the duration of the call.

  • Audio from the moment recording is paused remains silent (muted) until recording resumes.

  • The resulting recording maintains a continuous timeline while omitting the sensitive or paused portion.
